Last Minute Wedding-Day Checklist
Regardless of age, most women consider their wedding day one of the biggest days of their lives. There is so much to plan for and to consider, and with weddings, never leave anything until the last minute in case plans fall through. Nobody wants last minute panic to add to what is usually already a very stressful day.
1. Project Management
The first thing to do is sit with your fiancé and work out a date that suits both of you. At least six months in advance is desirable, even nine months or longer if you can wait that long. Once you have decided on a date, the first thing to do is make a checklist. It’s a perfect idea to organize your wedding as a project and set milestones for the different things that need to be done. For instance, one part of the project is to organize a venue.

Your milestones might be too narrow the venue down to two or three in four weeks time, and by the six-week mark to have visited each of them. By week twelve (month three) make the final decision and make a booking with the venue. Then, by two weeks before the day, confirm numbers and special requests with the venue.
Give each item a timeline for the different milestones and check them at the end of each week to make sure you are on track. If anything is not up to date, provided you are checking the list regularly, you will be able to attend to any areas that fall behind before they become a problem.
2. Venue, Invitations, Wedding Attire
The three things that will take the most time to organize are the venue, the invitations, and the wedding dress. It may take several weeks to narrow down a final list of suitable venues and then decide on one, so this should be at the top of the list. As well as the actual venue, a menu will need to be decided which adds extra time.
Once a decision has been made, and the venue booked, invitations need to be decided upon. Whether you are doing them yourself or getting them done by a printer, they will take quite some time to prepare and then be ready for mailing. Once they are mailed, there will then be a waiting period for your guests to respond. Quite often not everybody will respond on time, and then follow-ups will need to be done, so make sure you have a suitable timeframe in place.
The third most important thing on your list is the outfit you will wear. If you are getting a dress made, the dressmaker will need as many months as possible to prepare. Don’t forget, if they specialize in weddings, they will be dealing with many other wedding parties as well. If the wedding is going to be within six months, many dressmakers won’t have enough time to do it. So plan well in advance with your outfit!
Also, if you are having a bridal party, the bridesmaid’s dresses will also need to be made, and it all takes time.
3. Other Tasks To Be Completed
You will want photos or video to remember your special day by, so don’t forget to organize your photographer in plenty of time. Some people will be lucky enough to have a friend or family member who is great with taking photos and will do it for the couple. If you’re not one of the lucky ones, once again, you will need to narrow down a list of photographers, and choose one as far ahead as possible and book them in.
Hair and makeup need to be planned as well. About a month out from the wedding, it is a good idea to have a practice-run. This is for both hair and makeup to make sure you are happy with both. As a result, there will be no misunderstandings on the day. Don’t forget your nails. A manicure and pedicure are essential details that shouldn’t be forgotten.
There will be many other details that need to be organized, but if you have your checklist, and refer to it regularly, you’ll be fine. It might be helpful initially to sit with friends or family. Also, have everyone give as many things as they can think of that will need to be done. This will ensure the list is comprehensive. It is then less likely that things will be forgotten.
4. The Honeymoon
If you’re going on your honeymoon immediately after the wedding, make sure it is all booked in advance. Once the stress of all the formalities is done, the two of you can look forward to having time together. A time to relax and enjoy each other’s company.
It’s nice to get away if you can. Remember, turn the phone off for a few days so you can concentrate on fun and relaxation!
Remember with your wedding, pre-planning and organization are the keys to an enjoyable day, with as little stress as possible!
